The Last of Us Part II Remastered - No Return Mode Gameplay Explained
Description
The Last of Us Part II Remastered introduces No Return mode - a survival roguelike that takes the core ingredients of the campaign and mixes them into deadly new gauntlets. We spoke to The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered director Matthew Gallant about how No Return works, the mode’s scariest challenges and the challenges of bringing more playable characters to life.
The Last of Us Part II Remastered releases on PS5 on 19 January 2024, and brings with it technical improvements, new cosmetics, behind the scenes insight and No Return. In this The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered gameplay you can see No Return in action as we scavenge and scrap across random encounters, fighting our way to a deadly boss encounter.
Matthew explains how No Return mode builds on the core combat of the game and adds new arcade modifiers that turn clickers invisible, swamp the map in deep fog and keep you on your toes in every encounter. Just when you think you’ve mastered The Last of Part 2’s combat this mode is here to give you the fear again.
In our No Return gameplay we put several characters to the test, showing off Ellie, Abby, Yara, Lev, Jesse and Dina - and there are more waiting for you to unlock them. We’ve loved what we played of The Last of Us Part 2 No Return and can’t wait to hear your thoughts in the comments below. Will you be picking up the game on PS5 on 19 January?
